Read 21: Critical Thinking
(2nd grade – Middle School)
Read 21’s Critical Thinking is an on-line program that challenges fluent readers to think critically and comprehend on a higher level.
The program includes:
- Word building using prefixes, suffixes and root words.
- Activities to build comprehension and develop critical thinking skills using grade-level science and social studies passages.
- Speech recognition technology that assesses your student as they read aloud.
- Vocabulary and spelling practice of the most common words in the English language. Second grade begins with the 250 most common words. Third through fifth grades each cover an additional 250 words, so by the end of 5th grade Critical Thinking, your student will be able to read, spell, and use in sentences, all 1,000 most common words. Middle school Critical Thinking includes 250 more advanced vocabulary words.
- Parent reports and periodic reading assessments allow you to track your student’s growth.
When students finish Read 21’s Critical Thinking, they increase in comprehension and their vocabulary drastically, leading to great readers and writers.
